  3. Hi Hayley!
First of all I’d like to say you Happy Birthday! Hope this year is going to be better than the past one but worse than the next one! My name is Lara, I’m 17 years old and I’m a secondary student from Barcelona, Spain. I have to do a kind of research project and I’ve choosen Progeria’s topic because I think it’s very important that people should be aware of that and because next year I’d like to study Genetics’ career at University.
On Monday I’m travelling to London and I hope I can find your book and buy it. Furthermore it would be really amazing and important for me if I could make you an interview by Skype or something like this (with your parents’ permission of course). Wishing to have an answer from you as soon as possible! Love and greetings! Enjoy this wonderful day.
    Lara

  4. Hello Hayley
I heard you and your Mum on the World Service yesterday. You have a wonderful radio manner. My birthday was yesterday – and I loved sharing it with yours – just by 3 days. Take care and enjoy your day.
    Lots of love Jane

  5. Hello Hayley! I read your newsletter every time I received it. I just this minute shared it on my Facebook page, with the comment: “Whenever I’m feeling discouraged or blue, I think of this little lady. My troubles seem quite small in comparison to her own battles. She is an inspiration to me”. I meant every word, Hayley, and would like someday to personally correspond with you. In the mean time, please take care, keep inspiring the world, and may Creator keep you, and your family safe…Peace, Love and Light, Monica Alexander

  6. Hiya Hayley!

My name is Alison and I am honoured to be able to get in contact with you. I wanted to be able to email, however couldn’t find an email address? I am a young journalist in training and I run a blog for teenagers and young women. I just wanted to let you know that after watching an incredible documentary about you, I wanted to create some awareness about you and share your story with my readers. As the blog is relatively new, I wanted to feature you as one of our first “fearless females” and create awareness as well about your new book. I wanted to give you the opportunity to have a read, see what you think (if you have the time, as you do sound like a very busy young woman!) and let you know what I wrote about you. If you have any issues with me sharing this on my blog please do not hesitate to get in contact with me! Keep up the wonderful work Hayley, you are a very intelligent and inspiring young woman and I am totally in awe of what you have achieved for such a young age! xx

    http://secretsofafearlessfemale.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/my-very-first-fearless-female-hayley.html

  7. Ms. Okines, you are an intelligent, strong woman.
You are opening the door for others with your condition to have a normal life
and possibly have given doctors and scientists the most valuable human data
    of the aging process EVER!!

I plan to read your book.. In my eyes, honestly Hayley, you are normal.. Normal to me is
a good person who is strong and full of energy.. I only see a girl with a disability, not a disease.
Do not let anybody tell you limits or bars you cannot pass. You are a bright star Hayley

  8. Hayley & family, I want to say on behalf of all the decent people out here, who are upset & angry at the things that are being circulated today, we are sorry. No one deserves to have things like that wrote about them, especially when the facts haven’t been confirmed. They wouldn’t like it if someone wrote things like that about them or someone they loved if it hadn’t been confirmed. You are an amazing young lady & we love you. *Hugs from Wisconsin, USA* Violet Tali Wohali Belle

    -Anna

  13. Hi there. My name is Dani. I am 22 years old. I want to say thank you. I have multiple conditions that keep me from being able to live the life most women my age do. As you know from your experiences this can be very frustrating. You have put such a light into my life just by being you, showing me that just because you can’t do everything you’d like to or that others your age doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy what we do have and have the ability to do.. Thank you for being such an inspiration and a bright light in so many peoples life around the world. Happy belated birthday and I wish you many more happy years with your loving family.

  14. A Huge Fan of Hayley’s! She really is so beautiful! I am currently developing a nonprofit called the Genuine Girlfriends of New York City and one of our missions is to help cure Progeria. I would love it if next time Hayley’s coming to the US she stops in NYC. I can have her at a meeting and also show her around! I’d love to meet her! If she’s on facebook please feel free to add me!

  15. Wishing to Special Princess Hayley love and happiness at Easter and always!
Big smile and hugs to you and your family from Finland.

  16. Hayley, what an inspirational young lady you are. I have just finished reading your book. It only took me 2 days because I just couldn’t put it down

  17. Hi Hayley! How are you, I just want to say you inspire me, you really have that the essence of life ! You really enjoy your life, I know about progeria because you, but I’m really impressed about how you succeed in your life and let it take its course because you know God guide it. XOXO From Guatemala 🙂

  18. And just want to know if there is any address where I can send you a letter? Thanks (:

  20. Hey Hayley,

Hi Sweetheart!, first off let me tell you of how proud I am of you, making the best of your illness. My sister (She’s also a fan of you) was diagnosed with several brain tumors when she was just 8 years of age, and I was 9, so I know the feelings you and your family must be having. But I must say i am extremely impressed on how well your handling this situation!, with all the book signings, and celebrities your meeting. You are the happiest burst of energy of any 14 year old I’ve ever seen! And i’m so grateful this world has you in it. Keep fighting little trooper, you’ll make it through this. Just keep your life enjoyable, and live each day as if it was your last, and I’ll live in your honour! I hope someday in the future we will meet, until then stay strong hon! <3

    Sincerely Hannah

    Hugs from Canada! xoxox

  22. ♥♥♥ Hi,Hayley, from Argentina.I am so proud of you.I send you a BIG HUG and all my love.Regards (and be happy) ♥♥♥.

  23. Seems like you have a lot of wonderful stories to share. I hope your upbeat personality rubs off on those around you as I am sure it does. My friend Tarah has a form of Osteogenesis imperfecta. I met her my freshman year of college when I started having a lot of health issues. She is a lot like you. I once asked her if she ever wanted to start her life over without her condition. Her response was at first like yours, no and she couldnt tell me why. Then she told me of all of the things she gets to do because of her condition. She has been on TV shows, had many interviews, and what her highlight was then was her assistance dog that helped her with everyday things. She is now 28 and they told her parents she wouldnt live more than a few hours after birth. Beat all odds and enjoy every second of it.

  24. hey hayley i love your story i just love you.you are amazing.whats funny is my name is hayley too i just adore you keep up the good work. 🙂

  25. Dear Haley,
Hi! My name is Natalie and i am 13 years old also. I heard about you when i was researching rare diseases for school. I was extremely interested with you and your condition and decided to do a report on it. My teacher said that i can do an interview with a person with the disease if we wanted to. Unfortunetly, i live in California and i believe you live in the UK.I was wondering if you would be interested in doing an interview over the email or chat? Best Wishes!
Love, Natalie (San Diego, USA) xoxo <3

  31. hi hayley,
i really hope you see this but i’m mary ryan. i’m from the united states and i stumbled upon your video on youtube and i was really moving and i’m sure thats nothing you haven’t heard before but then there was a shot of your passport and i realized your birthday was december 3rd 1997 which led me to look you up on google considering it was an old video. which clearly led me to your website and after reading through everyones comments and watching a load of your videos i couldn’t help but start to cry. my birthday is december 3rd 1996 and realizing that were practically the same age made me really think. sometimes teenagers get so caught up in their daily lives that they don’t ever stop to appreciate what they have or just simply be happy…and thats what you are, just happy. despite your disease and the difficulties it may bring your spirt and optimism are the most inspirational thing i have ever heard of. everyone has something that changes them and really makes me stop and think, i’m normally not very deep and expressive about such things but you really have impacted me so much. i really would love to talk to you if that was any way possible and trust me i have been thinking a lot about what i would write in this so you would recognize me. what it basically comes down to is that even though some people may view you as unlucky they don’t tend to realize that you have been absolutely blessed with the heart of an angle. you are the definition of a role model and a true inspiration. i could continue to go on and on about how i admire you but thank you again for showing me that even in the darkest of places happiness will always overcome.
    -mary

    xoxoxox Good luck!

  34. Bonjour Hayley !

  35. Sent from New Zealand. You should visit here sometime.

Hi Haley. I think you are a true inspiration and you are beautiful. I’m thirteen, a year younger than you, I used to be homeschooled but now I go to high school and I like making movies and singing and I have big feet. I cried watching some videos of you. I think you are amazing and you are so confident and happy, always smiling and I so agree with you – We are All Human. My new favourite quote. I know that I am one of many people who dream of meeting such a wonderful girl, but sadly I suppose I shall never meet you but I wish all the best for your future. Imaginary internet hug, Haley! I love you so much and I wish I wasn’t crying while I am typing this, but I am crying for you Haley. You’re pretty and amazing and never forget that. Thank you so much for reading this if you did, Haley. Best wishes and good luck! Feel free to email me? Even though you are too busy living your life to bother, but good luck Haley.

    From Catherine 🙂

    • Hey Hayley!!! You are so cool, amazing and BEAUTIFUL!!! I am 12 years old and I know that if I knew you we’d be BEST FRIENDS FOREVER!!!’ I live in the United States and I am SOOO jealous of your accent!!! I really want to meet you!!! I wish you the best of luck with everything and I pray for you everyday!! Right now I am crying because I had never even heard of Progeria until about an hour ago when I found out about it from watching a YouTube video of your story. I have been crying since then and I really hope that you get the chance to read what I’m writing. Your life must be so difficult and I honestly don’t know how you do it. Everyday people complain all day long about the silliest things when they most likely don’t even know about your story. I am going to buy your book tomorrow because write now its almost one in the morning so I can’t get up to get my credit card!! Haha!!! By the way LOVE all of your bandanas because you definetely pull them off, which is not easy to do!!!! I really wish you the best and if you want to, please email me because I would really love to talk to you!!

      Love,
      Lucy

Just finished your book. It was fab!

  38. Dear Hayley,
How are you? A friend of mine just told me about you, and I think you are such a sweet young girl. I have been trying to get my hands on you book “old before my time” and I have been telling my friends about you. Do you know much I would LOVE to meet you? It would be soooooooo amazing! I just want to say I am so sorry you have that decease, but I have to say I am so shocked how you stay so positive, I mean I complain all the time and when I her a young girl like you who has a decease like you do, I feel so bad for complaining when I really don’t have anything to complain about! Thank-You for writing a book, because when I read it, it will really help me understand your story a bit more and that I shouldn’t complain when I don’t have to! Thanks again Hayley! Bye!

  75. HEY HALEY MY NAME IS BRIANA I JUST WANT TO SAY I THINK YOUR A BRIGHT GIRL UR PREETY YOUR STRONG DONT EVER LET NO BODY TELL U NOT BEAUTIFUL BUT THE TRUTH IS U ARE BEAUTIFUL.

  76. Hi Hayley, I’m a 37 year old Norwegian boy/man. I don’t know much about you, just what I read here and from TV. But the little I know about you from the media and your webpage I have no words. Really amazing!!! How I got here is a mystery. I really was looking to buy BASE-jumping equipment, and ended up buying your book. I’m really hard to impress but you did so core deep.
I never dated because I’m to scared. I was asked on a date a while ago after talking and spending time together, the moment she mentioned “DATE” I really freaked out. Haven’t seen her after that. But I barely brake a sweat when jumping out of a plane (working perfectly). Weird isn’t it.
I wish I had your ongoing toughness and endless guts. I think the truth is that you deeply moved and inspired many more people than anyone, including you, can imagine. One thing is certain: You gave my life a bit more meaning. You will always be in my heart. (Sorry, my English is not perfect)

Keep changing the world and write history Hayley.

  77. Hi Hayley! My name is Pow. I live in America. I think we would get along great! You sound really funny and energetic and kind. 92. Hie lovely Hayley
We fell in love with you when we watched the documentary on your life last night on TV.

My name is Anthea and i live in Zimbabwe Africa. My family and i watched your tv programme last night and we all could not help but shed tears after seeing your condition, but however your positive and happy attitude calmed our hearts. We thanked Jehovah the Almighty God for giving you a strong heart and loving family.

We are very pleased that many people are making huge efforts to try and get treatment for you,we hope they will succeed. It is very unfortunate that we cannot do anything to help you, but we truly love you.Its like we have lived you,its like you are part of our family just by watching the tv programme.

We have some wonderful message,we would like to share with you and your family. The message is from God’s word the bible. The bible offers real hope for the future. It is this hope that has kept us all going.

Please take out your bible,if you do not have one please ask your dear mum to buy you one.
    please read James 1:13 & Job 34:10-12
Sometimes we may blame God for the different problems we have in life, but from these verses God does not do evil things to any of us ,beacuse (read 1 Peter 5:7) he cares for us.

Why then do we suffer. please read 1john 5:19
Because the whole world is in the power of Satan the Devil.

Will suffering continue forever ror it will be replaced with happy times?
Revelation 21:3-5- Jehovah will remove all the suffering icnluding death, pain, tears etc
Job 33:25- our flesh will become fresher than in youth (no more old age)
even if we die Jehovah God will ressurect us ie bring us back to life here on earth with no problems at all John 5:28-29.
we will all be young and beautiful forever Psalms 37:29.

They are times maybe the whole family feels tired oand loosing hope please take comfort in the words
    Isiah 40:28-30
Have you not come to know or have you not heard? Jehovah, the Creator of the extremities of the earth, is a God to time indefinite. He does not tire out or grow weary. There is no searching out of his understanding. 29 He is giving to the tired one power; and to the one without dynamic energy he makes full might abound. 30 Boys will both tire out and grow weary, and young men themselves will without fail stumble, 31 but those who are hoping in Jehovah will regain power. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not tire out.”

Pray that he gives the strength you need to endure.
I know you receive many emails from people who care for you.
I would really love to continue communicating with you.

    my email adress is anthea@zxfuels.com

I would love to put it in my paper. -Love, Nikki-

I send you a hug and a kiss.

  96. Hayley,

My name is Juli and I’m 26 years old. I currently live in San Francisco CA and work for a pharmaceutical co. that works to help people with rare diseases such as Progeria. I’m writing to you and your family because I wanted to say thank you for sharing your story with the world. In 5th grade I was inspired and moved by a young man who was born with Progeria and ever since i saw him it was clear to me that this is what i was put on this earth to do, to help those who need it because they get lost and forgotten because there are so few. You have inspired me in more ways than you will ever know and everytime I see you and hear how well you are doing it warms my heart and motivates me even more to work harder. Thank you again for sharing your life with the world and for being my inspiration, motivation and Angel on earth. I hope your drug trials continue to go well and you prove those doctors wrong and get that mini cooper you so deserve!!!! Stay strong.

    Much love and best wishes,

    Juli

You are very lucky to have such a supportive and loving mother! Cheers from America!

      Laura

  108. Dear Haley,

I was sitting at home getting ready to take the dog for a walk when your documentary came on TV. Not knowing much about progeria, I did a quick search online to learn more. What a happy surprise to learn about the recent success of your drug trial! I hope you’re doing well and feeling wonderful. The next time you’re in Boston, get your mum or dad to take you to Zaftig’s for some Banana stuffed French toast. It’s only 5 minutes from the hospital. You deserve a treat after such a trek!

    All the best,
    Ashley

And she is bald, and beautiful, and so are u, no matter wut people say, I think u are the most perfect human being that there ever was. My grandmother was also once told she didn’t have long, bur that was like two years ago, so, some doctors aren’t like gravity, u can defy them. Keep it up and have a happy birthday on the third. 15, when the doctors only thought you would hit 13? That is truly incredible, Hayley.

Big hugs from the United States
    Abbie

  111. Hi Hayley you’re amazing, thought of you and decided to come and show some love on your page. BIG xoxoxoxos love you.

  112. Hayley,
I just learned of your condition and watched some of your videos on Youtube. Your story is so amazing and inspiring. Happy (belated) birthday and I wish you many, many more. 🙂

  113. Hi Hailey, My name is Linda. I live in Canada. I know an incredible person who has extra special training to help people from all walks of life. I would like your permission to show him your page and ask him if he thought he could assist you. I read where you said you wanted to prove the doctors wrong about how long you live. It is possible he might be able to help you with achieving that goal. I have no guarantees, but it would be an honor to share what I can in hopes of a better future. What do you think?

  114. Hayley, my wife and I, who live in Toronto, Canada, just watched a documentary released in 2010 about you which moved us emotionally very deeply. I read that your birthday is December 3, which was yesterday (it’s Dec. 4 in Toronto today), I wish you many, many, many more happy birthdays and that you and your family have a very long, very healthy, and very happy life together.

  115. I wish I was as beautiful as you, I am looking forward to reading your book 🙂

  116. Hi Hayley,

I’m Wil from Toronto Canada. I just watched a documentary about you and it was very touching and inspirational! I will be buying your book and reading as much as I can about your progress. I wish you all the best and I hope you had a fantastic birthday!!!

  117. Hi Hayley my name is Clare. Firstly I wanted to wish you happy belated birthday for the 3 December, I hope you had a lovely day with your friends and family. I live in New Zealand but I’m from a small town called redcar in yorkshire England. Tonight I watched your documentary on tv and I wanted to say thank you for being such a wonderful inspiring and caring individual. It was hard to see you have to wear a brace for your hips but you took it all in your stride. I have to have surgery on my back in the new year. And watching you be sobrave has made my day. you are myinspiration. The documary that aired in new Zealand showed that you were waiting to be accepted for a new trial in America. I hope this went well. You are an angel 🙂

Lots of Love Clare Louise xoxox

  118. Hello Hayley, My name is Linnéa and I´m from Sweden. I just read your book.

And I can say that that one is gonna end up on my favorite- books-shelf. Along with the harry potter, and the twilight books, and a few other books.

I loved it, it made me laugh, cry, smile, made me angry how life can be so unfair.

    Love from Linnéa Grönbech Blomqvist

STAY STRONG♥

  120. If it weren’t for the introduction of your book Hayley what really grasped my heart is how you said if you had 3 wishes would 1 be not to have progeria AND YOU SAY NO. In a way I understand what you mean about the going out and being stared at side of things as I’m epileptic and like you am very small for my age no-one truly believes I’m in my late 20’s, I hate how when ever I have a seizure people always fuss over me if I’m bleeding badly getting an ambulance when it’s nothing big. In a way Hayley you’ve made me very happy because in 2002 we started training dogs to be epilepsy assist dogs to warn us when something bad is going to happen only I wish I knew that Labradors care more about their stomachs than their owners. Anyway if I wasn’t 1 of the first New Zealanders to be put in the epilepsy assist program then I wouldn’t have my black lab Jeter, The reason she means so much to me is because I’ll never be able to have children so to me she’s my baby!
If it weren’t for you Hayley I wouldn’t have looked deep into my soul to find that medical problems can’t/don’t control who or what you are! Thanks so very much Hayley you’ve helped me find the bright side to life

  121. Dear hayley I am a soldier from south africa, I have never in my life seen anyone with as much courage as you, I wish that I had half the courage and strength that you have, God blesses us all differently and his gift to u I’m sure is courage and strength and love. I do hope that everything u ever want and need is given to u. I’m sure that it must be difficult for u most of the time but know that the strength that your lovely smile and loving heart has given others is beyond explanation. Stay strong and know that u are in lots of our hearts and minds 🙂

  122. Hiya Hayley. just wanted to say many congrats on celebrating your 14 th birthday (even though a bit late. I’m late for everything) I am a mother of 2 boys age nearly 10 and nearly 14! i had your book for a Christmas presant. it;s simply unputterdownable! love it. love you too. I have followed you since you first appeared on TV!! keep going lass. You are wonderful. Loadsa love, Mandy Miller, colchester, ESSEXx x x x x x

  123. You are the most sweetest girl I ever read about. Your book was wonderful and aspiring. I wish you all the love in the world 🙂

  124. You are the most sweetest beautiful girl and loved your book. I wish you all the best:)

  125. I have to add something to my note and say that your parents even with their marriage on the rocks in 2010 the did a fantastic job in putting together your Progeria Reunion in England! Raising enough money to fly everyone in, put everyone up in a hotel, give your parents days out and make things fun for you and your friends as yes like your friend Maddie who unfortunately passed away you might never see any of them ever again. Remember you have your whole life ahead of you levend levensduur naar toe de volledig, Live Life To The Full!

  126. I just finished your book last night and I wanted to tell you that I thought it was very well written. I was enjoyable to read things from 2 different perspectives, from your moms and yours. I have 2 small children of my own, and I find your story inspirational. I’m impressed by how open you are about your condition and how you’re handling things maturely. I wish you all the best! Congratulations on getting a book published!

  127. Hello Hayley,
Watching you on television and just wanted you to know that you inspire me greatly. Keep on fighting chick. Much love!

  128. Hi Hayley – My name is Mandy and I am from Cape Town in South Africa. I have just watched your documentary and you have made the biggest impression on me – you made me laugh and cry and you educated me – I’m nearly 50 so you can teach an old dog new tricks 🙂 You taught me about your disease but also about how the human spirit conquers all. Well done my girl – you are remarkable. xx

  129. Where can i get the book in spanish????

    • We are still working to find someone to translate it in Spanish. When we have some news we will put information on the website

  130. My daughter is reading your book for a school biography book report and is truly inspired by you Hayley. She has even made the decision to donate her hair to Locks of Love because of you. We are traveling to Europe in early June of this year (2013) and our first stop is London. When we talk as a family about what we want to do while in Europe, the only thing my daughter says is “I want to meet Hayley Okines!” If I could make that happen for her, I would be eternally grateful. Any chance of a book signing or chance meeting in June??

  131. Hi Hayley! how are you?
I’m from Brazil and I saw you on TV today. I am 15 years old and you taught me that even when things do not go as you planned, you have to keep fighting, always happy and beautiful as you. You taught so many people to live and I only wish the best for you and your family. You are wonderful and never forget that. (sorry for my awful English, I never had lessons but you always learn something listening to music hahah) Thank you.

  132. Hi sweet girl!

  136. I am Cecilia from Brazil. I just saw you on the TV show. You are AMAZING and everything you do is a lesson to be learned by everyone. You probably wander why this has happened to you, many a time, but, you have to ask your self, “what for”. And, in my case, you already taught me to be thankful for everything I have, to accept life as it comes to you, to enjoy every minute of it. You are what you are for people to realize how beautiful life is. Keep strong, keep fighting. Every minute, new medicines are discovered, solutions are found. My husband had cancer last year and, a few years ago, it could be a life sentence. However, he has fully recovered and is very healthy now. Say hello to your parents too, they are amazing. Love you. I will have you in my prayers from now on.

  137. It’s LeBron James from the Miami Heat I just wanted to give Hayley a little shoutout. My son is doing a project about Progeria and we found you online. I just want to wish you the best and God Bless You.

  138. Hello Hayley,
My name is Ragnhildur and am a 30 year old woman from Iceland.
I just saw one of your documentaries and it deeply touched me. You have such a charisma and your outlook on life and spirit is a great example for everyone. Beautiful and brave person! I wish I could be more like you, in fact I will try to be.
I didn’t even know this condition existed so I think it is great how you and your family have devoted your time to the avairness of progeria. Thank you for your inspiration and good luck with everything!
God bless you and your family.

  139. Dear Hayley,

in 2009 I travelled to Seattle and I watched a documentation on TV about you. Last year I saw your book in Holland but as I am from Germany my Dutch is very limited and I finally bought it in Ireland last autumn. I am deeply amazed by all these procedures you have already gone through ! I am 24 now and I feel like that you are stronger and even braver than I have ever been so far. I loved reading your book! It was a pity when I realized that I was already done reading it 🙂
I especially love the sentence in your introduction of your homepage that we are all humans.
Thank you very much for writing and publishing your book !!!
    Take care of you 🙂

  140. Hayley you are extraordinary! I love your eyes, your power, your smile! You have a fan in Spain!

  142. Hi Hayley!
About a year ago I found one of your documnetary videos on YouTube. I had no idea what Progeria was until I saw it. Now I love to watch them over and over. Let me just tell you, you are the bravest and strongest girl I have ever seen. I’m so happy when I see you smiling and just being yourself! Just keep being brave and strong as always!!! Best of Luck Hayley!!!!
    <3 Olivia 🙂

  143. Hi Hayley!! 😀 Hope everything’s okay! Well I REALLY admire you, how can you face all what society calls “problems” but I personally believe that are tests God use to be more nearest to Him.
